Panel upgrades in Moorpark
Service upgrades for 1980s Moorpark homes whose original panels are full, with the SHOP permit and SCE's meter work lined up so the power-off time for the meter work can be planned in advance.
Electrical permits for addresses inside Moorpark city limits are issued by the City of Moorpark's Building & Safety Division, not by Ventura County. Southern California Edison owns the lines and delivers the power, while Clean Power Alliance buys the electricity for customers enrolled in its program, which is the default. Infinity Electrical works on Moorpark houses, condos, mobile homes and business space, and free estimates are available for eligible electrical services.

Call (844) 430-7681Request an estimateMoorpark covers about 12 square miles at the western edge of Simi Valley, with the Tierra Rejada Valley and Thousand Oaks to the south and farmland to the west that the SOAR initiatives keep open. State Route 118 runs through the city and State Route 23 heads south from it toward the Conejo Valley. The city incorporated on July 1, 1983, and its housing element counts roughly 11,800 homes, about three in four of them owner-occupied.
Most of that housing went up quickly. According to the city's 2021–2029 housing element, 47 percent of Moorpark's homes were built in the 1980s alone and only about a fifth date from before 1980. So the typical Moorpark house is not an early postwar tract home; it is a 1980s or 1990s home whose panel was planned around that era's appliances. Those panels now face electric vehicles, heat pumps, induction ranges and home offices, and the question is usually whether there is room for one more large load.
The older pockets are smaller but real. Parts of downtown, the city's earliest developed core around High Street, date to the early 1900s, and the housing element singles out Virginia Colony and Villa Campesina as areas with aging homes in need of repair. Infinity Electrical Inc. (CSLB #1100231) looks at the panel, the wiring and how the household actually uses power before writing a quote. Customer assistance is available in English and Spanish.

Moorpark's housing element describes a city of master-planned single-family neighborhoods, most built from the 1980s on, with a historic downtown, a large mobile home park and two industrial parks near Virginia Colony.
Who issues the permit. Moorpark (ZIP code 93021) runs its own Building & Safety Division inside the Community Development Department, with plan review and inspection staff provided under contract by Charles Abbott Associates. The division lists electrical systems among the work that needs a permit. New applications go through the city's Self-Help Online Portal, known as SHOP, and plans are accepted only in electronic form. The city notes that online inspection scheduling is temporarily unavailable, so inspections are being booked by phone or email for now. For a job with Infinity Electrical, the permit and inspection are coordinated as part of the work.
Who supplies the power. Moorpark is a member agency of Clean Power Alliance, which purchases electricity for customers who stay in the program. Southern California Edison still sends the monthly bill, owns the poles and wires, and maintains them; CPA does not own or operate any delivery equipment. A service upgrade or meter change therefore involves SCE, while new circuits, lighting and most repairs inside the house do not.
Shutoff season. Moorpark has been touched by SCE's Public Safety Power Shutoffs every year from 2019 through 2026, according to the city's own PSPS page. The largest, January 19–21, 2021, cut power to 8,362 customers for more than 40 hours. The city names the Brennan, Gabbert, Morganstein, Strathern and Zone circuits as the ones shut off most often, and its table for an October 15–17, 2026 event also lists the Anton, Enchanted and Everett circuits. SCE completed upgrades on several of those lines in 2025, but the city reports that SCE is taking a more cautious approach in 2026, which it expects to mean more shutoffs in similar weather, with fewer advance warnings and longer restoration times while lines are inspected. Circuit names change, so the dependable check is your own address on SCE's PSPS and outage map.
Keeping the essentials on. SCE says customers in or near high fire risk areas are more likely to see a shutoff, and fire is not abstract here: the 2019 Easy Fire started in western Simi Valley and burned into eastern Moorpark. For homes that want the refrigerator, lights, internet or medical equipment through a shutoff, a generator connected through a transfer switch or a listed interlock, or a battery system wired to selected circuits, are the safe routes. A portable generator runs outdoors only, away from windows, doors and vents, and it is never plugged into a wall outlet. Infinity Electrical installs the inlet, transfer equipment and battery wiring; it does not sell generators. Our transfer switch and interlock comparison, battery backup guide and pre-shutoff checklist go into the details.
The permits and utilities guide explains the whole picture for the three counties we serve.
East of Moorpark, Simi Valley is a separate city, and so is Thousand Oaks to the south past the Tierra Rejada Valley; neither is permitted by Moorpark, and each page covers that city's own process. The farmland west of Moorpark lies outside city limits, and work in unincorporated areas is permitted by the County of Ventura's Building and Safety Division. Camarillo, farther west, is another separate city. Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks and Camarillo belong to Clean Power Alliance like Moorpark, with SCE delivering the power in all three.

We pull the permit, coordinate your utility when needed, and finish with the inspection.
Inside city limits, the City of Moorpark's Building & Safety Division issues them, and applications go through its SHOP online portal. Ventura County's Building and Safety Division covers only unincorporated areas, such as much of the farmland west of the city. We check which side of the line an address is on before quoting.
It depends on which SCE circuit feeds your street, and the city reports that Moorpark has had shutoffs every year from 2019 through 2026. Brennan, Gabbert, Morganstein, Strathern and Zone are the circuits the city lists as affected most often. Enter your address on SCE's outage map to see your own circuit and sign up for its alerts.
Connect it only through a transfer switch or listed interlock installed by an electrician, and run it outdoors away from windows, doors and vents. Never plug a generator into a house outlet, because that can send power back onto SCE's lines. See backup power for transfer switches and battery systems.
Many can, but a load calculation on your actual panel is the only real answer. Nearly half of Moorpark's homes were built in that decade, and their panels were sized before chargers and heat pumps were common. If capacity is short, the choices are load management or a panel upgrade coordinated with SCE.
Yes, mobile home electrical work for residents and for park management is one of Infinity Electrical's services. Villa Del Arroyo is the 240-space park the city's housing element places south of SR-118. Coach work and park-system work are inspected differently, so we confirm that first; see mobile home electrical.
